Assignment 7

The following link is a survey directed to fitness. Fitness

Part b

When discussing with my fellow classmates we learned that Google forms is a must need assessment for teachers. It helps students engage on online activities as well as learning how to engage on the computer. By creating surveys teachers can learn back ground information about their students. Getting to know the class and the students you teach i believe is very important. Google forms also allows teachers to chose what best fits for their students, whether its certain books students like or even what questions bother them all can be discovered through Google forms. Google forms allows the teacher to learn from its students through feed back.

I believe i would use Google forms to introduce a new subject. I would use Google forms to meet and to learn my students background. Google forms is a great opportunity to really understand the students you work with.

Power point assignment 3

The quiz is a brief chapter review of computers and what I have learned so far with my own reading. I have created a long presentation but very simple to follow. By clicking on the slides in the quiz part of the slide show you will see which answers are correct and incorrect.

Webquest review

The first review was the insect site. The introduction was good and the site asked questions for students to react to.
The task gave simple questions as well that i would use in a classroom setting.
The process for the task I would say will take some time for second graders but again very good for class room settings.
The evaluation made good sense it can be seen as a guiding tool for the kids to get a good grade.
The conclusion was vague but overall the web quest was good for a second level class. I would use this web quest for a classroom.

The next web quest was The Four Seasons right away in the introduction i can tell what I'm doing and what I'm about to learn. The task gave simple instructions on what to do. Having a group of four with each student researching the type of season they are responsible for.
The process was explained well and the having six steps is a great number and not to complicated for second grade level students. The evaluation gave a clear understanding on what students needed to do to get a good grade as well.
Overall this webquest is great and allows students to engage in learning about the seasons.

The third site gave a brief web quest that is probably used for a higher grade class. Their was no evaluation so I would not know how to get a good score for this project. However a lot of information on Rosetta Stone is given and the task as well as the conclusion provides the information that you should learn from this project. Great for a group setting but not great for a student on knowing what exactly to do. You do learn about Egypt and where Rosetta stone came from but students would not know how be graded huge problem.

The last site observed was a review of liner equations. This site has a great introduction that clearly states what im going to learn and going to be doing. The task was not clearly stated but the process was. The process give specific points on what the students should be doing. For example the the process said watch the video and solve the worksheets clear examples on what to do. The evaluation was really vague. I understood what to do but not for every category listed. The conclusion was vague as well but i did get what i was supposed to accomplish. This site may be too vague on what to do clearly but it does work for a class room setting. I believe with a little more explanation in the process or task students would know what to do.

Part 2
This is my webquest Since I'm a History education major I decided to make a web quest project based around the three great wars in America History. This following link take you to my web quest

assignment 4

This site is credible and i would use this site in a classroom setting. Reviewing this site I have  learned that immigrants in America burden from illegal immigrants. I would personally use this site in history class to explain the to students that immigration is good but does harm are homeland country with illegal immigrants in it. http://www.fairus.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=16663&security=1601&news_iv_ctrl=1007

This site at first glimpse seemed very credible. after reading and trying to understand its motive i saw no real information that i could use to my students. I personally would not share this with my students but i would take some information from the site and share it with my students. However i would not give them the site to this blog. Due to this information being vague about its issues i don't believe this site is credible. http://blog.immigrantconnect.com/

This is very useful and gives a great description of immigration history. Being a history teacher this would be the ideal site i would use for explaining America's history of immigration.  The website breaks down each time period  in which immigrants came and when immigrants were banned from America. This site would be great to show for a history class.http://www.america.gov/st/peopleplace-english/2008/February/20080307112004ebyessedo0.1716272.html

Observing the US Citizenship services website i could tell it was a credible site that had plenty of information. The information ranged from green cards to immigrants becoming citizens in America.Giving my students knowledge of how citizenship works i would use this in my class. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

The last site to me would not be a credible site i would use for history class. The site in itself just explains about Mexicans crossing the boarder and the boarders patrols are" beefing" up to stop them. I think this site does not touch on real issues and would not be great for class room setting. http://www.theonion.com/articles/immigration-officials-beef-up-usmexican-border-wit,1080/

assignment 2

Wiki can be used for several reasons. Wiki can be a platform for getting information across through computer with more flexibility. The potential here is for teachers is great. Instead of boring lectures and power points wiki gives people the chance to mange projects. Wiki can be used whenever you want to use a flexible platform to centralize information and share it with other people.

Glogs are great ways of showing people and young adults what your teaching style is. How you teach or even your teaching philosophy. It also give great potential of allowing students to get on the web and learn how to use such programs for the future. This web 2.0 platform allows students and teachers to upload files that can be easily viewed class room setting.

How would I use a glog? I would use a glog to show students my teaching style and let them know what kind of personality i have. Being a history teacher i would try to show videos of historic events as well as slide shows of the events.

As a teacher it is important that i meet International Society for Technology Education. By using the web 2.0 platforms you choose as a teacher you engage the for the future. As a teacher i used technology as a leverage to explain to my students. As a student I  boosted my learning on the computer.

assignment 1

Germane Lindsey

The internet was made for technology to be made more accessible of people globally. The sites observed stated that. Copyright owners have the exclusive statutory right to exercise control over copying and other exploitation of the works for a specific period of time.  Copyright owners of a certain site can license or permanently transfer their exclusive rights to others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright.

One thing that I learned while using computers is that your not allowed to put the contents of another person's or organizations web site on your Web page. However I did learn that you can use free graphics for an web page you create. Another don’t while creating a web page is Copying  and pasting information together from various Internet sources to create "your own" document. http://mason.gmu.edu/~montecin/copyright-internet.htm

Equity issues hit early on as young women and women of color experience while growing up. Scholars have seen in many studies that white collar jobs are based off what type of computer use one received in early schooling. The people that cannot use computer technology are considered illiterate and not capable of working in the white collar business world. Henceforth people that have access to computer use have better jobs than people that do o get a chance to have computer access. http://www.avln.org/learning/itc/jaeequity.htm
When looking up this topic I found that a lot of the conversation deals with the social economic status of people. Both sites observed express that color was a factor and that mainly young people that are at a disadvantage to receiving computer usage suffer. These young people usually suffer in the white collar jobs that requires everyday up to par skills of using the computer.

Cultural implications of how the cultural backgrounds of students from different cultures, influences how they use and think about learning with computer based technologies. This factor has led  the assumption that guidelines and models based on the experiences of such students are needed to design computer-based learning environments in which they can benefit.  Henceforth like equities of using computer, cultural minorities are often made invisible and are being disadvantage in their learning. http://community.flexiblelearning.net.au/TeachingTrainingLearners/content/article_4502.htm

When teachers use computers in a classroom setting they must realize that not all students will haves access to computers. When dealing with technology student come in all ranges of having. However some students family culture may no want their child exposed to outside resources due to some harmful sites. When using certain sites it maybe be best to discuss with parents of what sites students can and cannot use. Dealing with the word culture is complex and dealing with technologies and kids teachers have to know how to make everyone evolved somewhat equally. http://www.ehow.com/info_7923419_cultural-related-technology-use-schools.html

When dealing with computers there were four main issues I saw dealing with computers on a regular basis. One was eye disease due to staring on a screen for significant amounts of time the eyes become strain. Two was bad posture while sitting around and just staring at he screen many people develop terrible posture. A third issue I read was hand stress. Typing to long can cause your fingers and wrist to hurt after amount of time. The last issue I saw was the fact people can actually suffer from computer stress. Baiscally all the problems from before into one big problem of how stress with just computer the anxiety of work of the stress of bad posture. http://heheli.com/business/top-4-health-problems-caused-by-computer-use/

The other site I observed talk about the same problems eye strains and stress on the eyes are huge health issues. Pain in the lower back as well in the neck can be from sitting in the wrong type o chair when using a computer. Having proper lighting can reduce eye strain and the stress from it. Good posture and having a good chair is also important to not developing health issues.
